Candidates qualify Wednesday for Bulloch offices

Four more candidates qualified Wednesday for Bulloch County offices up for election in the May 24 general primary.         Qualifying continues 9 a.m. to 5p.m. through Thursday and 9 a.m. until noon Friday in the Board of Elections area at the Bulloch County Annex, 113 N. Main St.
The candidates qualifying Wednesday were Noel Brown for Bulloch County sheriff, Curt Deal and Gerald Fleming for Bulloch County Commission seat 2A and Jake Futch (incumbent) for Bulloch County coroner.
For the Board of Education District 3, where incumbent member Dr. LeVon Wilson has announced he will not seek re-election, a candidate has yet to appear.
These are the official candidates so far, as reported by Bulloch County Elections Supervisor Patricia Lanier Jones:
    State court judge — Gary Mikell (incumbent)
    Magistrate judge — June Braswell (incumbent)
    Solicitor general — Joseph Cushner
    Sheriff — Jared Akins and Noel Brown
    County Commission chairman — Roy Thompson
    County Commission 1A — Ray Mosley (incumbent) and Hayward Fields
    County Commission 2A — Jimmy Hayes, Curt Deal and Gerald Fleming
    County Commission 2C — Jappy Stringer and Gail Dismuke
    Surveyor — John Dotson (incumbent)
    Tax commissioner — James Deal (incumbent)
    Clerk of court — Heather McNeal (incumbent)
    Probate judge — Lorna DeLoach, Marty Waters and Charlie Aaron
    Coroner — Jake Futch (incumbent)
    Board of Education 1 — Shalah Hendrix and Cheri Wagner (incumbent)
    Board of Education 7 — Heather Mims and Josh Mattos
    Board of Education 8 — Maurice Hill (incumbent)
