Metter native Steven Snell has joined the staff of Sea Island Bank as a consumer and small business lender according to an announcement by Billy Patterson Jr, senior vice president and city executive of the bank's Metter office.

"Steven will be a valuable member of our Metter banking team. He is very civic-minded and well thought of in our community," Patterson said. "Our entire staff has known Steven for many years and we are all pleased to have him join our banking family."

Snell earned a master's degree in business administration from Georgia Southwestern State University in 2007 while serving as the Hurricanes' assistant baseball coach. He also received a bachelor's degree in education from GSW. In addition to his duties as the primary pitching coach, Snell was active in Americus-Sumter County civic affairs serving as a liaison for the baseball program at a wide range of community events.

Sea Island's new lender was also active in numerous community organizations in Americus including Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, the Chamber of Commerce and the annual Pecan Festival. He is a 2000 graduate of Metter High.

"We not only take special pride in helping our customers achieve their goals but we strive to make Candler County a better place to live and raise a family," Patterson said. "Steven and our other nine team members certainly understand what it means to be good bankers as well as good citizens. It is always gratifying to hire local people who know the importance of helping others in our community."
