V. Sharon "Sharri" Edenfield of Statesboro was honored for her outstanding service by the Young Lawyers Division (YLD) of the State Bar of Georgia during the organization's annual meeting June 14-16 at Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
This honor was bestowed upon Edenfield in recognition other work as co-chair of the YLD's Leadership Academy, a leadership development program for YLD members. Edenfield works as an attorney with Edenfield, Cox, Bruce & Classens in Statesboro, where she primarily practices her profession in the area of civil litigation.
She received her undergraduate degree from The University of Georgia and her law degree from Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law.
The YLD Leadership Academy is in its second year of existence, modeled on the programming of leadership-training programs for young business, civic and community leaders; however, the YLD Leadership Academy is unique in that it focuses on training its members to serve as leaders within the legal community as well as within their local communities.
The YLD has been strengthened over the years through guidance by the State Bar of Georgia, its Executive Committee and Board of Directors, the Supreme Court and through dedicated service rendered by its members. In keeping with its motto of "working for the profession and the public," the YLD has more than 30 hard-working committees that produce an array of projects and programs.
Through the years, the YLD has also gained national recognition by winning several American Bar Association awards for its projects and publications.
