Proctor named president/CEO for Excelsior EMC

Greg Proctor, manager for member services of Excelsior Electric Membership Corporation, was named president/CEO by the Excelsior EMC board of directors beginning April 1.

Proctor, a native of Bulloch County, began working for Excelsior EMC in 1995 as energy services engineer and since 2003 has been manager for member services. Proctor said he fully understands the opportunities, as well as the unique challenges that Excelsior EMC is faced with daily.

"Greg meets all of the criteria that make him an outstanding selection to lead Excelsior EMC into the future as he has a dedication to serve the members and employees of Excelsior EMC," said W.D. Johnson, Excelsior EMC Board Chairman.

Proctor succeeds Gary Drake who has served as president/CEO of Excelsior EMC since 1978. He will retire on March 31.

Proctor received his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Georgia in 1988.

He received his Master of Business Administration from Georgia Southern University in 2001.

As a 20-year employee at Excelsior EMC, he has gone through countless courses and seminars related to the electric cooperative industry.

He also serves as a Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Statesboro. He and his wife, Tara, live in the Westside Community of Bulloch County and have four children - Tyler, Jackson, John and Maggie.

Excelsior EMC is a member-owned cooperative providing electricity to approximately 22,000 homes and businesses.

The co-op serves members in Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Effingham, Emanuel, Evans, Jenkins and Tattnall counties. For more information visit the Cooperative's website at
