First Southern National Bank began celebrating its fifth Anniversary Monday. The bank opened on February 5, 2002 in the “little yellow house” on the corner of Grady and Main streets and moved to its permanent location at 201 South Main Street in December 2002.
The week-long anniversary event includes daily celebrations at the main branch, the grand opening and ribbon cutting for the new Market District Mortgage Division office on Wednesday, and a cookout at the main branch on Friday. All events are open to all First Southern National Bank customers and the entire Statesboro-Bulloch community.
In its first five years in business, First Southern’s has increased assets from zero to more than $200 million, increasing customers from zero to more than 8,000, and employees from 13 at its start to more than 45 today. In addition, First Southern has contributed more than $480,000 to the Bulloch County community in the form of sponsorships, scholarships and employee donations to the United Way.
“The core values that have remained constant since our inception are as important to our success as the growth we’ve seen in that time,” said Tommy David, president and CEO of First Southern. “Every member of the incredible First Southern team takes pride in our commitment to provide our community with the caring, friendly, personal service that has made our first five years a phenomenal success.  We are excited to continue that commitment and growth for many years to come.”
