A Statesboro man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after deputies say he fired shots at his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend in her Brooklet yard, according to the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office.
Patrol deputies were notified at 4:21 p.m. Wednesday that shots had been fired at several people in the 100 block of Woodyard Court in Brooklet. The victims had fled to a home on Railroad Street in Brooklet, Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said in a news release issued Thursday.
The victims told deputies that Orlando Rock, 23, of Pamela Way in Statesboro, had driven to his girlfriend's residence on Woodyard Court, found her ex-boyfriend in the yard speaking with her along with several other people, and fired shots at the ex-boyfriend before chasing him on foot, Anderson said.
The ex-boyfriend was able to elude Rock and was later picked up and driven from the scene by the other witnesses, Anderson said.
No one was injured in the shooting, but there were bullet strike marks on the ex-boyfriend's vehicle, the sheriff said.
As witnesses were being interviewed, they pointed out that Rock's vehicle was traveling through Brooklet right then, Anderson said.
Deputy 1st Class William Sims stopped Rock's vehicle on Brooklet Denmark Road and took him into custody, the sheriff said.
A handgun and shotgun were located in the vehicle, according to the news release. Physical evidence at the Woodyard Court scene indicated that both weapons had been discharged, Anderson said.
Rock was transported to the Bulloch County Jail and charged with aggravated assault, pointing a firearm at another, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and criminal trespass.
No bond has been assigned to Rock.
