Bulloch County sheriff's deputies responding to a domestic call Sunday evening said they found a man holding a woman down as he struck her.
Larry Clark, 32, of Brad Lane, was charged with aggravated assault as well as other charges, Sheriff Lynn Anderson said in a news release issued Monday.
Around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to the scene at a home in the 8000 block of Burkhalter Road, where Deputy 1st Class William Sims reported seeing Clark "holding a female subject down in the yard preparing to strike her," Anderson said.
Sims immediately took Clark into custody and searched him, locating a .380-caliber pistol in Clark's pants pocket, the sheriff said.
"The female victim indicated that Clark had struck and choked her before pressing the pistol to her stomach and telling her he ‘was about to end this,'" Anderson said.
The attack took place in front of the victim's 8-year-old daughter, the sheriff said.
Clark was transported to the Bulloch County Jail. Along with aggravated assault (family violence), he was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, third-degree cruelty to children, battery, obstructing a 911 call, reckless conduct and pointing a firearm at another.
He is being held without bond, according to jail records, and awaits court proceedings.
