The body of a Statesboro man who went missing Sunday after a wakeboarding accident on the Savannah River was found Tuesday morning.
Divers from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources located the body of Donovan Warren Newsome, 25, near Poor Robin Landing, where he disappeared around 4 p.m. Sunday, said Screven County Sheriff’s Chief Inv. Brett Dickerson.
Newsome and others were wakeboarding near Poor Robin Landing “when the lines apparently became tangled and they (Newsome and another man) went down” said Capt. Robert McCullough with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
Apparently the men attempted to dive underwater and disentangle the ropes, Newsome apparently encountered trouble and when he went under a final time, did not resurface, according to reports.
