An elderly man sent to the emergency room Wednesday for bruises and a black eye told Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies his son caused the injuries.
A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Tracy Roy Walker, 50, Bell Road, on several charges including aggravated assault and abuse of the elderly, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson.
The 78-year-old man arrived for a dialysis appointment at a local dialysis center Wednesday, where staff members noted the bruises, abrasions to his head, arms and legs, and black eye. They called Bulloch County EMS to transport the man to the emergency room, where he met with sheriff’s deputies, he said.
The man told deputies his son, Walker, was responsible for the injuries and had also “fired a shot into the floor near him with a firearm while intoxicated,” he said.
The abuse took place at a Bell Road residence, where deputies found Walker and placed him under arrest, he said. He is being held without bond in the Bulloch County Jail.
Walker is charged with abuse of an elderly person, aggravated assault (family violence), possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, discharging a firearm while intoxicated, reckless conduct, simple battery on a person 65 years or older, battery, disorderly conduct and obstruction.
