On Saturday, U.S. Rep. John Barrow, D-Ga., will hold his annual veterans' job fair in Statesboro.
The job fair, being held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center, 847 Plant Drive, is part of a series of events being held while Congress is away from Washington for the month of August.
"Sometimes, the hardest part about finding a job is knowing where to look," Barrow said. "We're taking the searching part out of the equation by bringing together employers from our region who are hiring right now. Our economy depends on a robust jobs market, and I want to make sure everyone in our region who's looking for a good job can meet with employers who have good jobs to fill."
The Statesboro job fair will be open exclusively to veteran job seekers, active duty military members, Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses from 9-10 a.m. The event will open to the general public at 10.
In addition to seeking employment opportunities, job seekers will be able to participate in career building workshops, including resume writing and best practices for job interviews. Veterans are invited to participate in the career building workshops from 8-9 a.m. Workshops for the general public will run from 9-10 a.m.
