Averitt Center to host creative birdhouse workshop
Birdhouse Exhibit
This photo shows two birdhouses made by West Virginia craftswoman Jennifer Snyder. She will conduct a workshop Saturday demonstrating how to make such birdhouses, and her exhibit will be on display for the next several weeks in the Legends Gallery on the second floor of the Averitt Center for the Arts. - photo by JASON WERMERS/staff

If you want to install a birdhouse — and make sure it will attract birds looking for that extra something — the Averitt Center for the Arts has a workshop for you.

Jennifer Snyder, a craftswoman from Charleston, West Virginia, will demonstrate how to bedazzle your birdhouse using common, ordinary knickknacks lying around your home.

Snyder's imaginative creations have been displayed and collected throughout the United States. The workshop is suitable for teens and adults, and space is limited.

To register, call Tony Phillips at (912) 212-2787. A supply list will be provided. Cost is $35 for the public, $25 for Averitt Center members.

For a preview of what you can expect, watch the Studio Statesboro segment where Snyder gives a demonstration for Averitt Center staff. That will air after 5 p.m. Friday right here on statesboroherald.com.
