During a heated argument, a man grabbed a broken beer bottle and stabbed another man in the chest, police said.
Roberto Nepauseno,27, Eagle Walk Apartments, was charged with aggravated assault after the Jan. 13 incident, said Statesboro Police Capt. L. C. Williams.
Police received a call about the stabbing incident at the Knight Drive apartment complex and responded to find the victim and witnesses, who said Nepauseno argued with the victim before stabbing him in the chest with the jagged bottle, he said.
Statesboro Police Det. Ken Scott arrived at the scene and began investigating while the victim was taken to East Georgia Regional Medical Center for treatment of a laceration on the left side of his chest, he said.
Investigators found Nepauseno at a nearby apartment and took him into custody on the aggravated assault charges after witnesses identified him as the man involved in the attack, Williams said.
Nepauseno was taken to the Bulloch County Jail where he remains without bond, according to jail records.
Police did not disclose the reason Nepauseno and the victim were arguing.
