Will Anderson and wife Hannah accepted the Farm Family of the Year award on behalf of their family during Friday's Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce Agribusiness Committee luncheon at the Bulloch County Center for Agriculture.
A Nevils-area family was honored Friday as the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce observed Farm-City Week with a luncheon.Held at the Bulloch County Center for Agriculture, the luncheon honored the Will Anderson family and recognized Chamber Operations and Membership Manager Roxanne Kibler by presenting her with the Agriculture Partner of the Year award.The honor goes to a person who is not from the agriculture community but shows exceptional support for the community’s industry, Agribusiness Committee member Todd Faircloth said.Anderson and his brother Reed are sixth-generation farmers growing cotton, soybeans, corn and wheat, as well as operating broiler houses for Claxton Poultry.Will Anderson, married to Heather Stewart Anderson, is a deacon at Gracewood Baptist Church and trustee for the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home. The couple have three children.“This is an honor to get this award,” Anderson said as he spoke to a crowded room.Afterward, he said he had already known he would get into farming, but when his father’s health demanded help, he took over. “I kind of knew I had to come onto the farm or something would happen to it,” he said.
