Red Cross officials announced the 12 winners for the annual Dress Down Day t-shirt contest Thursday night at the Bulloch County Board of Education meeting, with the overall winner Melissa Jones having her design appear on the back of the t-shirts.
The other winners will have their designs included on a calender that will go on sale in January and run though January 2008.
"We probably had about 100 children enter," said Mary Ball, director of the Bulloch County chapter of the American Red Cross. "We had a really good turnout. I was very pleased."
Red Cross Dress Down Day is scheduled for Friday, March 23 where people purchase the Red Cross t-shirt and wear it to work on that day instead of their usual work attire.
"Dress Down Day has been very successful. The community, I think, really looks forward to participating and I think they keep doing a better job each year with it," Ball said.
The money raised by the fundraiser goes toward local disaster relief.
"We had a lot of very interesting and unique drawings entered," she said.
Of the winners selected, seven came from William James Middle School, three were from Langston Chapel Elementary School and two were from the Bulloch County Boys and Girls Club.
