Abduction leads to arrest; Woman OK after man grabs her from parking lot

A man forced a woman into his truck, took her to a nearby parking lot and made unwelcome sexual contact, police said.
But the woman escaped without physical harm, and Statesboro Police detectives, with the help of the Bulloch County Sheriff's Department, found the offender and placed him under arrest, said Statesboro Police Capt. L. C. Williams.
Ronald Reed Robertson, 48, Fields Park Road, approached the victim in the First Southern National Bank's parking lot at the corner of Walnut and West Grady Street Thursday, forcing her into a white GMC truck and taking her to a location on North College Street, he said.
There, he "grabbed intimate parts of her body," Williams said. "The victim fought back and broke free from him" and called police.
Advanced Patrol Officer Benjamin Purvis met with the victim and contacted Det. Ken Scott, who began an investigation. With help from Bulloch County Sheriff's Investigator Walter Deal and Deputy Jimmy Billings, Scott located the truck and identified the offender. Evidence found led to Robertson being charged with kidnapping and sexual battery.
He was taken to the Bulloch County Jail where he is being held without bond, according to jail records.
