Four suspects in the June 30 killing of a Statesboro man were indicted Tuesday and are slated to face arraignment in October.

A fifth suspect was killed in late July when he resisted arrest by probation officers.

Michael Anthony Riley, 51, was shot and killed June 30 in his Greenbriar Trail. His wife, Antoinette Braddy Riley, 48, was charged July 1.

Her daughter, Katrina Denise Ledford, 29, of Davisboro, was arrested on murder charges July 22, the same day that Travis Lorenzo Berrian, 29, of Augusta, fired shots inside the state probation office in Augusta when probation officers tried taking him into custody on murder charges stemming from Michael Riley’s death. He shot and wounded a probation officer, and was killed by return fire.

Michael Riley was listed as pastor of New Birth Nondenominational Church on Woodrow Avenue in Statesboro.

Earlier in July, Tarell Momom, 34, an inmate in Jackson State Prison, and Terrance Ray Griswould, 28, of Augusta, were also charged with Riley’s murder. Statesboro police will not release details of how Momom was involved in the shooting, citing the ongoing investigation.

Mamom has been in prison since 1996 on charges of kidnapping and other serious crimes, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections website.

“We presented the case yesterday and it was ‘true billed,’” Ogeechee Judicial Circuit Assistant District Attorney Daphne Jarriel said Wednesday. “The case is assigned to Judge F. Gates Peed and the arraignment for all defendants is set for Oct. 9 at 9 a.m.”

A “true bill” is the written decision of a grand jury, signed by the grand jury foreman, indicating that a majority of the grand jury members found that the evidence presented to them was sufficient to warrant prosecution, she said.

All four defendants are charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime (party to the crime).
