Mr. and Mrs. Wadley S. "Steve" Sowell of Sylvania, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Shelly Ann Sowell, to Kenneth Evan Brower, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Leholmes Brower, also of Sylvania.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James W. Cavender and Mrs. Connie L. Cavender of Claxton, Ga., and the late Mr. Wadley E. Sowell and Mrs. Helen H. Sowell of Sylvania. Shelly is a 2007 Screven County High School graduate and graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2011 with a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education. She is currently employed with the Screven County Board of Education as an elementary school teacher.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. Lee Holmes Brower and Mrs. Rebena L. Brower of Sylvania and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth E. Collins of Rocky Ford, Ga. Evan is a 2005 Screven County High School graduate and a 2010 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a B.S. degree in Social Sciences. Evan graduated from the 198th Infantry Brigade at Fort Benning, Ga., and served a tour in Logar Province, Afghanistan. Evan currently continues to serve his country as a sergeant in the United States Army, stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas.
    The couple plans to wed on Saturday, December 21st, 2013, at 4 o’clock in the afternoon at Middle Ground Baptist Church, Sylvania.
