Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Smith of Macon, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Faren Melissa Smith of Macon, to Cory Dillon Rushing of Statesboro, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry D. Rushing Jr.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Betty C. Smith and the late William F. "Billy" Smith of Gray and Judy B. Toole and the late Embre S. "Bubber" Toole of Macon. Faren works at HeritageBank of the South in Statesboro and is currently taking online classes at Kennesaw State University. She is an alumna of Phi Mu Fraternity.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Lynelle E. Rushing and the late Jerry D. Rushing Sr. of Statesboro and Mr. and Mrs. John Hagan of Statesboro. Cory graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2011 with a degree in Logistics and Intermodal Transportation. He is an alumnus of Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity.
    The couple has planned to wed on May 11, 2013, at 5 p.m. at the Mabel White Baptist Church in Macon.
