Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Smith of Guyton, Ga., announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Marlie Renee Smith, to Hunter Gill Jacobs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Jacobs Jr. of Sylvania, Ga., and the late Stephanie Cook Jacobs.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Margie Games of Goldsboro, N.C., Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Wayne Daw Sr. of Chocowinity, N.C., and Mrs. Mary Smith and the late Mr. Marvin Smith Sr. of Goldsboro.

Marlie is a 2012 graduate of South Effingham High School. She received an Associate of Arts from East Georgia College in 2013 and will graduate in December 2016 from Georgia Southern University with a degree in logistics and supply chain management with a minor in marketing. She is currently employed as an assistant manager at Campus Advantage in Statesboro, Ga.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Jacobs Sr. of Sylvania, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Cook of Portal, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Delmas Johnson of Twin City, Ga.

Hunter is a 2012 honor graduate of Bulloch Academy. He will graduate in May 2016 from Georgia Southern University with a construction management degree with a minor in business. He is currently employed with Pope Construction in Statesboro.

The couple plans to wed on June 11, 2016, at 5 p.m. at Wilmington Island United Methodist Church in Savannah, Ga., with a reception to follow at the Wilmington Island Country Club.
