Kendra Leigh Phillips and Jonathan Lloyd Smith

    Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Phillips of Statesboro, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Kendra Leigh Phillips, to Jonathan Lloyd Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lyman Smith Jr. of Daisy, Ga.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Ida Phillips and the late State Representative Mr. L.L. Pete Phillips of Soperton, Ga., and Mrs. Sylvia Williams and the late Joseph D. Williams of Dublin, Ga. Kendra is a 2005 graduate of Statesboro High School. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2009. Kendra is an alumna of the Gamma Delta chapter of the Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity. She is currently enrolled at the Medical College of Georgia and plans to graduate with a doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in May 2013. She currently resides in Augusta, Ga.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Lyman Smith Sr. of Daisy and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Lloyd Tootle of Manassas, Ga. Johnny is a 2004 graduate of Bulloch Academy. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the Terry College of Business in 2008. Johnny is an alumnus of the Delta chapter of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He is currently employed as a budget analyst for the Department of the Army at Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Ga. He currently resides in Savannah, Ga.
    The couple has planned to wed on April 20, 2013, at 6 p.m. at Whitefield Chapel at Bethesda Academy, Savannah, Ga.
