Mr. and Mrs. Mark Jacobs of Statesboro, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Bailey Marie Jacobs of Blacksburg, Va., to Houston Cawthorn Chandler of Blacksburg, Va., son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chandler of Statesboro.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Strange and Mr. and Mrs. David Jacobs, all of Statesboro, and Mrs. Leslie Jacobs of Siler City, N.C., and is the great-granddaughter of Mrs. Alice Clark of Siler City, N.C. Bailey is a 2008 honor graduate of Statesboro High School and is a 2012 magna cum laude graduate of Georgia College and State University, where she earned a degree in Psychology. She is presently teaching preschool at Rainbow Riders in Blacksburg, Va.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chandler of Statesboro and Mrs. Janice Cawthorn of Hampton, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cawthorn of New Braunfels, Texas. Houston is a 2008 honor graduate of Statesboro High School and is a 2012 summa cum laude graduate of Georgia College and State University, where he earned degrees in Biology and Environmental Science. He is presently attending graduate school at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.
    The couple has planned to wed on June 8, 2013, at 6 p.m. at Nesslerod on the New River in Radford, Va.
