Mary Katherine "Katie" Hill and William Paty Barksdale of Nashville, Tennessee, were united in marriage on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 5:30 in the evening at the First United Methodist Church in Statesboro. Dr. Bill Perry and Father Mike Smith officiated.
Musical selections were provided by Dr. Pierce Dickens, Patty and Ryan Kelly of Statesboro and the Plantation Singers of Charleston, S.C.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walker Pratt Hill III of Statesboro. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Virginia "Jenny" Hill and the late Walker Pratt "Tiny" Hill Jr. of Statesboro and the late Chief Master Sgt. (Ret.) Thomas Victor Greene and Claire Hoffman Greene of Savannah. She is the great-granddaughter of the late Samuel Edwin Groover and Willie Olliff Groover Cobb of Statesboro and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walker Pratt Hill Sr. of Thomasville, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willam S. Hoffman of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Greene of Gaffney, South Carolina.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robin Paty Barksdale of Nashville, Tenn. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Jesse "Buddy" and Dorothy Louise Williams O'Donnell and the late Dr. Edward Hamilton and Zula Louise Paty Barksdale. He is the great-grandson of the late Mr. Edward A. Barksdale and Nora Hamilton Barksdale and the late Robert Morris Paty and Zula Matilda Jane Muse Paty and the late Thomas Terrence O'Donnell and Viola Louella Boone O'Donnell and the late Ozro Britian and Ada Gower Williams.
Katie was given in marriage by her father, Pratt Hill. She wore a re-embroidered lace gown by Monique Lhuiller. The strapless gown featured a corset bodice with a trumpet skirt and signature pearl buttons that extended the length of the gown. Her necklace and earrings were made of peach moonstone. Her bouquet was made of light coral and ivory ranunculus (tecate), peach/coral tulips and blush double tulips wrapped with ivory dupioni ribbon and wide dupioni ribbon streamers.
Allison Hill Johnston, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. She wore a custom floor-length gown by Katherine McDonald of Lulakate in Charleston. Marrin Schroeder, niece of the groom, was the flower girl.
Robin Paty Barksdale, father of the groom, was the best man. Ushers were Walker Hill of Statesboro, brother of the bride; Jansen Schroeder of Nashville, Tenn., brother-in-law; Mitchell Hill of Statesboro, cousin of the bride; Bayne Hill of Atlanta, cousin of the bride; and Ben Johnston of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., brother-in-law of the bride; Ashley Hill, cousin of the bride, and Meg Christopher distributed wedding programs.
The reception was held at Forest Heights Country Club under the direction of W.E.D. of Charleston, S.C.
The couple honeymooned in Ixtapa, Mexico. They reside in Nashville, Tenn.
