Mr. and Mrs. David Dowdell of Statesboro, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Elizabeth, to Ben Anthony Gilbreth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Gilbreth of Statesboro.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Jimmy and Mary Burcham of Tuscumbia, Ala., and Sue Dowdell and the late Jimmy Dowdell Sr. of Muscle Shoals, Ala. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgia Southern University in December 2011 and is employed as a registered nurse in Endoscopy at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Benny and Judy Gilbreth of Claxton and Byron and Matha Haire of Claxton and is the great-grandson of Mrs. Lou Gilbreath of Bowling Green, Ky. He will graduate this month from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
    The couple has planned to wed on May 11, 2013, at 5 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
