The Reverend and Mrs. Larry E. Bird of Statesboro are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming wedding of their daughter, Karen Elizabeth, to Jason Oliver Gore. Jason is the son of Carol Gore and the late Joseph
Oliver Gore of Chiefland, Florida.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Katherine Bird and the late Rev. Horace Bird of Statesboro. She is also the granddaughter of Marguerite Sechrist and the late Ralph Douglas Sechrist of Warner Robins, Georgia. Karen is a 2004 graduate of Colquitt County High School, a 2006 graduate of Andrew College, with an Associate of Science degree, and a 2009 graduate of Georgia Southern University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. She is a teacher at The Learning Treehouse Preschool and Daycare.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Lola May Hobbs Gore and the late Oliver Wilson Gore of Chiefland, Florida. He is also the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Vallejo of Tampa, Florida. Jason is a 1997 graduate of Chiefland High School and is currently serving his 14th year as a military policeman in the United States Army. He is stationed at Ft. Stewart, Georgia.
    The wedding is planned for Saturday, September 10, 2011, at Pittman Park United Methodist Church in Statesboro.
