Moena Mullis

Moena Mullis is a happy, soon to be 90 year old, who was just awarded a special bar for her name tag signaling her completion of more than 3,000 hours of volunteer services at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. While she really enjoyed the years she spent cheering people in the hospital as she visited patient's rooms delivering the Statesboro Herald, she now welcomes those who need assistance at the front desk. Some of you will recall that former President George Bush called on every American to contribute 4,000 hours of community service in their lifetime. As a retired teacher and widow of a minister, I suspect she reached the 4,000 mark many years ago. Moena Mullis is an example of Gandhi's promise that "the fragrance always remains on the hand that gives the rose."
