We have news for you

They’re ba-ack! All of our college students should be back in town by now.  I would like to extend a hearty welcome to all returning students and also to the new students who are in the ‘Boro for the first time. With classes starting tomorrow, traffic will be a little heavier around the college, so please be careful out there. I would even recommend taking an alternate route, if possible. Also, please remember that a little patience goes a long way in preventing accidents.
The return of the students means that football season can’t be far away. Everyone here at the office is really pumped about Coach Chris Hatcher and the Georgia Southern Eagles. The Eagle Nation is ready and set for a great year.  Subscribe to the Statesboro Herald now so that you can have the inside track on all the Eagle news. Don’t miss out on the exciting details brought to you by The Sports Guys.
Pigskin Pickem
To add to the fun of football season, we are hosting the Pigskin Pickem contest on our Web site. The sponsors are so excited to be able to bring you this opportunity for fun and prizes. In addition to weekly prizes, you can win a grand prize valued at $500. So go online, create your account and pick your teams today.
Ask the Expert
Statesboroherald.com wants to be your one-stop information place. Soon, we will roll out the Ask the Expert section on our Web site. This is how it works. Just for example, let’s say you have a question about mortgages. You can post your question online and the local mortgage expert will answer it. How simple is that? You don’t have to get on the phone, get put on hold or even wonder who you should call. If you are a local expert in a particular area and would like to answer questions for our readers, please contact Suzanne Samford at 489-9418 or ssamford@statesboroherald.com.
Community
I finally get to tell you the fantastic news about our online community. We are getting a new and updated Community site! I was just given access to our test site so that I can go in and play around with it before it goes live. I LOVE it! You will, too!
Probably the greatest improvement is its appearance. The pictures on the Photo Gallery are bigger. The events on the calendar are much easier to see. You will be able to rate the blogs. Also, if you would like, you can receive an e-mail notifying you when you have a new comment to your blog.
Also, creating accounts, posting events to the Calendar, adding photos to the Photo Gallery and blogging will be easier than ever with the new updates. I’ll tell you more as the roll out date approaches.
