2016 Dancing with the Statesboro Stars
Savannah Thompson and Alan Woodrum perform a sassy number.

For the sixth year, the annual Dancing with the Statesboro Stars fundraiser for Safe Haven of Statesboro packed the Georgia Southern University Performing Arts Center on Thursday, Oct. 4.

Twelve teams - featuring one experienced dancer and one newbie apiece - performed a diverse range of routines. In the end, Alison Jordan and Ron Washington took home the coveted mirror ball trophy as the 2016 Judges' Choice Award winners, chosen by this year's judges: Miss Georgia 2016 Patricia Ford, former Georgia Southern football star Adrian Peterson and personal trainer and choreographer Shazia Edmonds.

A second trophy went to Scott Kemp and Katie Byers, the 2016 Fundraising Award winners. In all, the event raised more than $100,000 for Safe Haven, an organization that helps victims of domestic violence and their children throughout Bulloch and surrounding counties.
