ATHENS — Gerald Robinson scored 22 points and fellow guard Dustin Ware 20 points, and they hit clutch free throws and field goals to lead Georgia over Winthrop, 92-86 in overtime, Tuesday night.
Winthrop (4-9) led the final 2 ½ minutes of regulation, but after Ware's 3-pointer with 9.6 seconds to go, Robinson went coast-to-coast for a layup with 2.4 seconds remaining to tie the game at 76.
In overtime, Ware hit another 3-pointer early and Georgia (8-5) built an 86-78 lead. The Eagles never got closer than four points, but the game wasn't decided until Ware and Robinson hit four free throws in the final 22 seconds
Andre Jones led Winthrop with 33 points.
Freshman forward Nemanja Djurisic started in place of Marcus Thornton, Georgia's leading rebounder, who had surgery on his right knee Tuesday. Djurisic, a native of Montenegro, reached career highs of 17 points and nine rebounds.
