DeAngelo Tyson, a 6-foot-2, 295 pound defensive tackle at Statesboro has verbally committed to play football for the University of Georgia in 2008. Tyson, a junior, visited the campus this past weekend and was impressed with what he saw.
“It was a nice trip,” said Dyson. “I got to see everything, got to see some of the academic buildings, and I decided to play for them.”
Tyson will be the third Blue Devil in the last two graduating classes to play for UGA, joining John Knox and Justin Houston. Tyson said their commitments weighed on his decision as well.
“We’ve been playing football together since middle school,” said Tyson of his friends. “I decided why not take it to the next level (with them).”
Florida, Auburn, Georgia Tech and Tennessee were all interested in Tyson’s services, and Tyson had previously visited South Carolina. He chose UGA for the simple fact that he felt there were people there who could, “watch over him”.
