Prep roundup: Griffin's no-hitter lifts Trinity to softball win

    Marijke Griffin threw a no-hitter Tuesday, striking out seven in three innings, to lead Trinity Christian School to a 22-0 victory over Victory Christian of North Augusta in softball.
    At the plate, Griffin was 2-for-3, including a grand slam, with four runs batted in. She scored two runs for Trinity Christian School (1-0).
    Trinity Christian will play host to North Walterboro (S.C.) in a doubleheader at 4 p.m. today at Memorial Field.

Screven Co. girls beat Bleckley Co. at soccer
    SYLVANIA — Screven County High School's girls soccer team defeated Bleckley County, 3-2, in a Region 3-AA game Thursday.
    Jennifer Suggs, Jewel Melvin and Madyson Torres each scored goals for Screven County. Torres' goal, her 10th this season, came with 38 seconds to play. Charley Taylor assisted on Suggs' goal.
    Goalkeeper Jessica Markovcic made six saves for Screven County (5-1, 2-1), which will play host to Jefferson County at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
    Bleckley County fell to 3-3, 3-1.

Screven Co. boys, girls win track meet
    Screven County High School's boys track and field team scored 121 points to beat  Savannah Christian (61), Metter (54) and Jenkins County (45).
    The Gamecocks' first-place finishers were Lemel Smith (400, 52.72); Devaughn Bryant (800, 2:14.50); Jaron Cusack (110 hurdles, 16.07); Tyler Williams (triple jump, 41 feet, 5 inches); Darius Wright (long jump, 21 feet,1 inch) and Zachary Durrence (pole vault 9 feet, 6 inches).
    Screven County's girls, with 129 points, beat Jenkins County (55), Savannah Christian (44) and Metter (33).
    The Lady Gamecocks' first-place finishers were Destiny Brewton (100,12.56); Miyah Golden (1600, 6:44); Vaneisha Lawton (100 hurdles, 18.28); Miyah Golden (300 hurdles, 49.71); long and short relay teams; Kaitlyn Skinner (discus, 102 feet, 9 3/4 inches, school record); Jessica Atkins                          (shot, 29 feet, 11 inches); Vaneisha Lawton (high jump, 4 feet, 6 inches); Danielle Brown (long jump, 15 feet, 10 1/2 inches); Caitln Abercrombie (pole vault, 5 feet, 6 inches).
