The Middle Georgia Bucks South boys ninth-grade basketball team participated in the 2012 King James Classic, an AAU boys basketball tournament, last weekend in Augusta.
The Bucks went undefeated in pool play and finished third in the Gold division. The Bucks lost their first game of the year by one point in overtime in the semifinals.
The Bucks defeated teams from North Carolina (SEBL), Tennessee (Elite) and South Carolina (Hurricanes), before eventually losing to Jacksonville (Bulls).
As a result of the team’s outstanding play, two of the Middle Georgia Bucks players, Corneilus Taylor (Claxton High) and LaParis Hall (Dooly County) were chosen by ESPN Scouts to participate in the upcoming invitation-only ESPN “Super Sophomore top 100 camp,” which will be held June 1-3 in Atlanta.
The team's next tournament will be May 4-6 in Jackson, Miss.
