THOMSON — Ana Olsen sent a low cross to Stacy Elliot, who scored the game winner with 20 seconds left as the fourth-seeded Southeast Bulloch Lady Yellow Jackets shocked No. 1 Thomson with a 2-1 win in the opening round of the GHSA Class AAA state playoffs on the road on Friday.
With the Jackets down 1-0 at halftime, Olsen scored a second-half goal off a Thomson defender to tie the game.
Eagles set sights on SoCon title
Georgia Southern softball closes the 2014 regular season this weekend with a three-game set at Samford.
The Eagles (32-17, 14-4 Southern Conference) have a magic number of just one for the program’s third SoCon Regular Season Championship.
Georgia Southern needs one win in the three-game set against the Bulldogs or one Furman loss in the Paladins’ series at home against Appalachian State to clinch the title and No. 1 seed in the SoCon tournament.
