Local Roundup: Lady Blue Devils fall in semis

    JESUP — The Statesboro girls dropped a 5-0 decision to Wayne County in the Region 3-AAAA semifinals Monday evening in Jesup.
    While the Lady Blue Devils are out of contention for the region championship, they will host Liberty County on Wednesday in the region tournament’s consolation game.
    The winner of Wednesday’s game will earn the region’s No. 3 seed in the Class AAAA tournament as the state playoffs begin next Tuesday. The loser will be a No. 4 seed.

Mill Creek to host hit, pitch and run
    The Statesboro Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department will host a free  Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run Competition on April 28 and 29 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Mill Creek Park Field 6.
    The competition is for boys and girls ages 7 to 14 (age on July 17, 2014 determines age division). The competition only takes about five minutes to complete and competitors do not have to be a participant of any SBCPRD programs to compete, nor do they need any equipment. The event is free and open to the public.
