Bulloch Academy sophomore pitcher Lauren Dennard is on a roll.
She is currently on an 11-inning streak in which she has given up only one earned run and one walk while leading the Lady Gators to a 7-2 record.
“Lauren works the ball around the plate well,” said BA head coach Chandler Dennard, also her father. “She averages a little over three strikeouts per game. She has worked hard during the off season. She’s not going to blow people away with speed but she does what we need her to do and she let’s the defense work.”
Dennard sports a 4-2 record with one save.
A member of the varsity squad since the eighth grade, Dennard is one of the more experience players on the young team and has grown in her skills and demeanor each season.
The 15-year old is gaining more confidence in herself and her teammates, and relies on her curveball.
“Batters may hit the ball but the defense is there to back me up,” she said. “I trust them. We work together pretty well as a team. There is good team chemistry and we always try to do things together off the field.”
