Four Devils honored

    Four Statesboro High baseball players were named to the All-Region 3-AAAA North team including shortstop Grason Wiggins, infielder Trent Lewis, outfielder Josh Ware and pitcher Crawford Simmons.
    The follow varsity players were honored at the team’s banquet Sunday: Brandon Wilson (Coaches Award), Lewis (MVP, Academic Award) and Wiggins (Highest BA).
    Junior Varsity award winners were: Aaron Cone (MVP, Highest BA) and Rob Pennington (Coaches Award).

Pirates call
up Rogers
    Former Georgia Southern pitcher Brian Rogers was called up by the Pittsburgh Pirates late Monday night and will join the team in St. Louis Tuesday.
    Rogers played for the Eagles from 2001 until 2003 when the Detroit Tigers drafted him in the 11th round.

Statesboro baseball summer camps
    Statesboro summer baseball camps will be held June 4-6 (ages 6-8) and June 11-13 (ages 9-12) at Mill Creek Field Two.
    The cost is $45, and the camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon.
    You can register at the camp on the first day by arriving at 8:30 a.m.

    Statesboro head coach Lee Hill will conduct the Statesboro Summer Basketball Camp beginning Monday, June 4 and running through Friday, June 8.
    Rising second through fifth graders will practice from 8-11 a.m., while rising sixth through ninth graders will practice from 1-4 p.m.
    Admission is $80.

 SEB basketball camp    
    Southeast Bulloch’s “NEST OF PRIDE” Youth Basketball Camp for boys and girls rising to the fourth through eighth grades will begin Wednesday, May 30 and run through through Friday, June 1. The camp begins daily at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 12:30 p.m. The cost of the camp is $40 per camper. SEB baseball camp
    Southeast Bulloch will hold its second annual baseball camp beginning Tuesday, May 29 and running through Thursday, May 31.
    The camp is open to rising third through eighth graders and will be held from 4-7 p.m., focusing on hitting, fielding and fundamentals of the game. Cost is $50 and a snack will be provided. Contact Stephen Hoyle at 764-3826 for more information.

SEB Tennis Camp
    Returning again to Southeast Bulloch this summer is the Yellow Jacket tennis camps. This summer’s sessions are offered at the SEB Tennis Courts.
    On Wednesday, May 30 through Friday, June 1 from 8:30-11:30 a.m., the tennis camp will be led by coach Wayne Pruitt, head tennis coach for Southeast Bulloch High School’s girls and boys teams. This camp is for this year’s third through eighth graders for the 2006-07 school year.

BA FUNdamental
football camp
    Bulloch Academy assistant head football coach Ronnie Hodges invites local and area boys and girls going into grades second-fifth to sign up for the Gator FUNdamental football day camp.
    The annual camp, conducted by Coach Hodges and several present and past BA football players, runs from June 18-21 from 9 a.m. to noon. This instructional opportunity will provide campers with basic football fundamentals in a relaxed, fun-filled environment. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt and opportunities to win awards in various skill-level competitions.

    Bulloch Academy head basketball coach Chandler Dennard invites local and area boys and girls going into grades 2-5 to sign up for the 2007 Gator Basketball summer camp.
    The annual camp, conducted by Coach Dennard and several present BA basketball players, runs from June 25-28 from 9 a.m.-noon. This instructional opportunity will provide campers with basic basketball fundamentals in a relaxed, fun-fill environment. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt and opportunities to win awards in various skill-level competitions.

Metter hoops camp
    Metter High School will hold a basketball camp starting Tuesday, May 29 and running through Thursday May 31 to be held and Metter Middle School.
    The camp is open to boys and girls ages five-13 and will run from 8 a.m to 11 a.m. The cost of the camp is $45 before May 29 and $50 after that date.

Running camp
offers scholarships
    Mars Hill, N.C. — Mountain High Running Camp, in Mars Hill, N.C., is once again offering camp scholarship opportunities to four deserving high school cross country runners.
    Selected runners will be awarded tuition for one of the two weeks of camp held July 9-14 and July 16-22. Scholarships are awarded based upon need, teammate participation and recommendations. The scholarships include camp tuition, a free pair of Reebok running shoes along with the Reebok technical camp t-shirt and water bottle.
    Set in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, runners will enjoy training with elite Kenyans, running on beautiful trails, expert instruction and lots of fun.

Ten Star All Star

    Final applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp.  The Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp is by invitation only.  Boys and Girls ages 10 - 19 are eligible to apply.  Past participants include:  Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antawn Jamison. 
    Players from 50 States and 17 Foreign Countries attended the 2006 Camp.  College Basketball Scholarships are possible for players selected to the All-American Team.   Camp Locations include:  Babson Park, Fla., Prescott, AZ., Thousand Oaks, CA., Sterling, CO., Atlanta, GA., Champaign, IL., Ypsilanti, MI., Glassboro, NJ., Hickory, N.C., Mitchell, SD., Lebanon, TN., Commerce, TX., and Blacksburg, VA.  There is also a Summer Camp available for Boys and Girls ages 6-18 of all skill levels.
