Statesboro, Ga. — Mrs. Leola C. Love, age 95, passed into rest Sunday,
May 20, 2018, at Brown’s Health and Rehabilitation Center.
The Bulloch County native was the daughter of the late Linton and Mae Sam Cone. She attended the public schools of Bulloch County in the Portal community. At an early age, she became a member of Scarboro Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as president of the usher’s board, on the kitchen ministry and many other church organizations.
Mrs. Love worked as an obstetric nurse at Bulloch Memorial Hospital in the 1950s and later became a nurse for Dr. A. Bird Daniel until 1976. She continued her nursing in many homes, caring for the sick as well as for children or those who needed her help. Mrs. Love was a devoted nurse and caregiver for the Rocker family and for First United Methodist Church of Statesboro, Georgia, where she retired in August 1998.
She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter and son-in-law, Eddie Mae (Israel) Curry, Statesboro, Ga.; two grandchildren, Anthony Rountree and Angela Nett Rountree, both of Willingboro, N.J.; a sister, Dorothy Brinson, Ellabell, Ga,; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Family visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.
Mrs. Love will lie in state on the day of the service one hour for viewing. There will be no viewing after the eulogy.
The funeral service for Mrs. Leola C. Love will be held
11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Scarboro Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. Grant Turner, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Final rites have been entrusted to Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.
