STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Helen Ruth Mitchell Thomas, age 67, passed away on Saturday morning, November 10th, peacefully at her residence under the excellent care of Kindred Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Pierce County, but had made Bulloch County her home for the past 40-plus years. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a retired business owner, having owned and operated Helen’s Fast Foods for 15 years, and a former employee of Bulloch County Board of Education, where she worked at Langston Chapel Middle School.
    She is survived by her husband, Carl Thomas; a daughter Cassandra E. Thomas, Statesboro; two sons, Edward J. Thomas, Statesboro; and Jeffery O. Thomas, and wife, Inez, Collins, Ga.; two sisters, Roxie Jean White, Statesboro; and Sandra Faye Mack, Screven, Ga.; four brothers, Willie D. Mitchell, Screven, Ga.; Benny Ray Mitchell, and wife, Jewel; and Eddie Lee Mitchell, both of Statesboro; and Robert Eugene Mitchell and wife, Colleen, Ludowici, Ga.; aunts, Bertha Howell, Lima, Ohio; Fannie Odol and Theresa Nesmith, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; Helen Marie Cromaktire, Screven, Ga.; and Helen Ruth Mathis, Pensacola, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
    The memorial service for Mrs. Thomas will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Highway 301 North, Statesboro, with Brother James King officiating. Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
