STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. John Rawls, age 62, passed away on Monday morning, November 19, 2018, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice facility after an extended illness.
He was a native of Bulloch County, a member of Beautiful Zion Baptist Church and a graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School. He was last employed by Georgia Pacific.
He is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Wallace, and husband, Troy, Norcross, Ga.; three sisters, Phyllis Jackson and husband, Ernest; and Berry Susan Kirk and husband, Richard, both of Statesboro; and Glenda Gail Rawls, Spring Valley, N.Y.; three brothers, J.C. Rawls, wife, Darlene; Ronnie Rawls, wife, Marcia, both of Statesboro; and Dewy Rawls, wife, Marquelle, Gainesville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Samirah Thomas and Ikeila Thomas, both of Norcross, Ga.; two aunts, Mildred Hilton, Broomfield, Conn.; and Lola Mae Simmons, Suffern, N.Y.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Mr. Rawls will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Alexander Smith, eulogist, and the Rev. Ponder, presiding. The Rev. Morris I. Reddick is the pastor. Burial will be n the church cemetery.
Viewing will begin on Friday, November 23rd, at noon and the family will receive friends and family from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
