York: 2 local pharmacy workers arrested for stealing drugs

    Two local pharmacy employees police said stole drugs and sold them are behind bars without bond.
    Michael Robert Mincey Jr., 22, Cypress Lake Road, and Travis Delano Anderson, 22, Eagle Gate Apartments, were each charged Tuesday with several drug and theft crimes, said Statesboro Police Chief Stan York.
    The men were employed by Walker Pharmacy, he said.
    Pharmacy owner Lindsay Walker contacted the Statesboro Police Department regarding " a possible internal theft of controlled substances," he said.
    The department's Crime Suppression Unit was assigned to the case and launched an investigation leading to the arrests, he said.
    Anderson was charged with distribution of Xanax, hydrocodone and oxycodone within 1,000 feet of a school, as he lived near the Georgia Southern University campus, said Statesboro Police Capt. L. C. Williams.
    Both men were charged with three counts felony theft by taking (Xanax, hydrocodone, oxycodone), three counts of distribution of a controlled substance (Xanax, hydrocodone, oxycodone), three counts of manufacturing, distribution or possession of a controlled substance, and three counts of practicing pharmacy without a license.
    Both men were taken to the Bulloch County Jail and remained there Wednesday evening without bond, according to jail records.
