A Sandersville woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident Monday on Interstate 16.

Amber Michelle Phillips, 20, of Pine Needle Road in Sandersville, was driving eastbound on the interstate around 7 p.m. Monday when her 2011 Toyota Corolla left the highway.

The cause of the car running off the road is unknown, according to a report by Georgia State Patrol Post 45 Sr. Trooper Tommy Strickland.

Phillips' car crossed the median near mile marker 134 and struck a tree in the wood line, he stated in reports. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
