Statesboro police arrested one of two suspects in a robbery and physical attack reported Sunday.

Jaquera Shantell Wilson, of Church Street, is charged with robbery by sudden snatching, two counts of third-degree cruelty to children, simple battery and criminal trespass, said Statesboro police Capt. James Winskey.

Around 5:20 p.m. Sunday, officers "responded to West Inman Street in reference to a reported robbery and damage to a vehicle," he said. "Upon arrival the officer spoke with the victim and witnesses and determined that two female subjects broke out the window of the victim's car and physically assaulted her."

The suspects also reportedly snatched a cellphone from the victim during the incident and fled the scene prior to the officer's arrival. Officers were able to identify one of the subjects as Wilson, 20.  She was arrested a short time later on West Jones Avenue, he said.

"The case was turned over to detectives of the Criminal Investigation Section for further investigation. This case remains under investigation, and additional arrests are anticipated," he said.

Wilson was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where she remains without bond, according to jail records.
