A Sylvania woman was killed Wednesday morning when her car was struck by a Norfolk Southern Railways work truck, police said.

Janice Faye Brown, 51, of Winchester Road, was traveling south on Veterans Memorial Parkway approaching Northside Drive East around 6:18 a.m. Wednesday when she was struck by a 2012 International work truck driven by Justin D. Krull, 37, of Edwardsville, Ill.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper 1st Class Carl Hutchinson reported that Krull, driving north on the parkway, turned left at the intersection and struck Brown's Honda Accord in the front and driver's side door.

Reports were incomplete Wednesday afternoon, but preliminary reports state that Krull was at fault and charges are pending.

GSP troopers are also investigating a fatal accident Saturday on Veterans Memorial Parkway at Cypress Lake Road.

Around 4:20 p.m. Saturday, Napoleon Lamar Phillips, 25, of Whispering Pines Boulevard, was stopped at the intersection of Cypress Lake Road and the parkway, but then pulled into the path of Roy Broughton, 64, of Hamilton, Ohio. Phillips struck Broughton's vehicle. Broughton was uninjured, but Phillips died as a result of the crash, reports state.
