You can cool off a week early at Splash in the Boro when the water park opens for a sneak preview today and Sunday.
Splash opens daily for the summer 2012 season next Saturday for Memorial Day weekend.
The water park inside Mill Creek Regional Park features all its favorite attractions, including the Mat Racer, a four-lane racing slide, the Flowrider, a wave pool that simulates surfing, three water slides, and, of course, the Lazy River.
There is plenty of shade to stay comfortable and plenty of lifeguards to ensure everyone’s safety. At any time at least 35 lifeguards can be found on duty patrolling the park’s 768,000 gallons of water.
More than 150,000 people attended Splash in 2011 and similar crowds are expected in 2012.
About 25 percent of Splash's total ticket sales come from Bulloch County residents, with the rest being made up of non-residents. That pattern of attendance has been true since the park opened and continues to date.
Splash is open today 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday noon to 6 p.m. The park reopens May 26 for daily operation through Aug. 5. It will then be open weekends only through Labor Day, Sept. 3, and close for the season after the holiday.
