Wadley police officer killed in Metter crash

A Wadley police officer was killed early Monday morning in a car accident outside of Metter on his way to police certification training in Statesboro. Georgia State Patrol Post 45 Trooper 1st Class Hunter Oglesby said details of the two-vehicle crash were unavailable Monday, as reports were incomplete and the investigation was ongoing, but he said that the families of both people involved had been notified of the collision, which took place around 6:40 a.m. on Highway 121 near Canoochee Road. Lawrence Thomas Forrest, 37, of Wadley, was killed.
