Bulloch County Sheriff’s investigators arrested a 13-year-old boy Wednesday who is accused of molesting a five-year-old female relative.
The incident was reported July 27, and Bulloch County Sheriff’s Inv. Walter Deal has been collecting evidence and interviewing victims and others since, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson.
The victim “disclosed to her parents that she had been touched inappropriately by” the teen during a recent visit to his home in the area of Ga. 46 and Ga. 67. The alleged molestation occurred only one time, he said. “Various interviews were conducted which led to the arrest and charging the 13-year-old male with child molestation and sexual battery.”
Sexual battery is defined as “intentional physical contact with the intimate parts of another such as the genitals or buttocks without consent,” he said.
There was no report of physical injury to the victim.
Deal contacted the Department of Juvenile Justice, who authorized the release of the teen to his parents, he said.
The case file has been forwarded to the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for further action, Anderson said.
