For 45 years, Camp Cherokee at the Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department has been the premier day camp in Bulloch County.

It has grown over the years, but the mission remains the same - to provide a fun-filled day camp for children in prekindergarten through fifth grade.

Camp Cherokee will host nine weeks of camp this year from May 27 through July 25. The camp will be held at the old Julia P. Bryant Elementary School. Camp days will be filled with outdoor activities, arts and crafts, swimming, field trips and more. Each week has a different theme with different activities.

Camp is from 7:45 a.m. until 2 p.m. for $85. Extended care runs from 2-6 p.m. for $40. Early care (7:15-7:45 a.m.) is also available for $5.

In addition to day camps, Parks and Rec will also offer a variety of sports-related camps this summer, including British soccer, Soccer in the Boro, baseball, softball, tennis and football.

There will also be tennis programs, Academy Soccer tryouts, tumbling programs, wrestling programs, horseback riding lessons, piano lessons and swimming lessons available this summer.

Registration for all of these camps and programs will be held Wednesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Honey Bowen Building. More information on all of these programs can be found at www.bullochrec.com or by calling the Parks and Recreation office at (912) 764-5637.
