With cold air continuing to hold on in the region, First Presbyterian Church of Statesboro will provide a warming center for the third consecutive day tonight, Bulloch County Emergency Management Agency Director Ted Wynn announced.

The center, at 1215 Fair Road, will take residents who need a warm place to stay from 6-10 p.m. today and will close from 6:30-7 a.m. Saturday.

The church also provided this warming center overnight Thursday and Friday with the temperature plunging below freezing each night.

According to the National Weather Service, the high today in Statesboro will reach 42 under mostly sunny skies, with the low dipping down to 28 under partly cloudy conditions. The cold weather finally is expected to lose its icy grip Saturday, with the high reaching near 60 under partly sunny skies, with a low early Sunday morning around 49.
