Statesboro police seek rape suspect

The Statesboro Police Department is seeking a suspect in a rape investigation.

Statesboro police were called to a residence on Mikell Street on Saturday in reference to a sexual assault. After further investigation police determined that a rape had occurred, according to a Statesboro police news release issued Friday morning.

The suspect, Clarence Hinson Lewis, and the victim both live at the residence on Mikell Street, police said.

The victim is a 24-year-old female with an intellectual disability, according to the news release.

The victim had no other apparent physical injuries.
Clarence Hinson Lewis is described as a black male, 35 years old, 5 feet tall and 130 pounds.

This investigation is ongoing. No further information is being released at this time.
