Statesboro man charged with making bomb threats

A man was arrested and charged with making bomb threats against two apartment complexes Monday, police said.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday, the Statesboro Police Department received information that a possible bomb threat was called in to Summit Apartments on North Main Street and Little Lots Creek Apartments on East Jones Avenue, according to a news release.

Officers immediately responded to both apartment complexes and searched each location for any suspicious devices, but none were located, police said.

Upon further investigation, the caller was identified as Clinton Johnson, 44, and he was later located and arrested at Northside Apartments on Packinghouse Road, where he lives, the release says.

Johnson was charged with transmitting a false public alarm, a felony.
