Master Deputy Jeff Thompson responded to Southeast Bulloch Middle School this past Friday to meet with staff regarding a possible child molestation, which occurred away from the school.
Upon arrival, Thompson contacted the 14-year-old female victim. The student indicated that she had consensual contact of a sexual nature several times with Michael Popp, a 24-year-old, Statesboro resident, living on Spring Creek Road.
Thompson was able to gather evidence supporting the female's allegations she had sexual contact with Popp at locations in Bulloch County.
Popp was taken into custody and transported to the Bulloch County Jail. we faces chges of one count of aggravated child molestation, one count of felony sodomy and one count of felony statutory rape.
The female juvenile was charged with fornication and released to her legal guardians.
